Cranberry Creek Henry's Crossing Nature Preserve

History

PHLT acquired the 272-acre Upper Paradise Preserve in 2012 and the adjacent 239-acre Henry's Crossing Preserve in 2013. Together these protected properties provide crucial protection for the Cranberry Creek and its headwaters. Both properties were acquired with matching grants from the Monroe County Open Space program and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). These Preserves protects a section of the Cranberry Creek, a High Quality Coldwater Fishery and PA Fish & Boat-eligible Class A wild trout fishery, and two unamed tributaries. The step waterfalls, braided creek, existing and potential trails, hemlock ravines, rhododendron stands, and open woodland are the best of the "old Poconos" ~ a legacy to be preserved for generations to come. These preserves are adjacent to Paradise Township's Nothstein Preserve and the 777-acre Paradise-Price Preserve.
